Why a Consultant...
The following topics will briefly outline how our services can help you.  Click on a topic to send your questions.  We offer free advice over the phone.

A Sound Symphony

Ensure oneness of vision between the Board President, the Music Director and the Executive Director.  This cooperation is essential to good orchestral health.  We can interview each person and identify the disparities of vision, resentments, non-communication or misunderstandings and mediate a resolution.  (Recommendation:  one day session.)

Board Retreats

Empower your board and talk in earnest about needs, goals, problems and solutions.  We can facilitate a board retreat, employing our survey forms to solicit honest and well thought out opinions, to identify a focus for and eliminate waste and weakness in your orchestra.  Hard-hitting and efficient sessions are our forte.  (Recommendation:  a one day session.)

Strategic Planning Sessions

Develop a workable plan for the organization addressing the long and short term options.  We are able to facilitate forthright conversation to pinpoint where  your organization needs to be.  (Recommend a half day or full day session.)

Annual Fund and Capital Campaigns

Implement a fundraising campaign for operating expenses, endowment needs and escrow funds.  We do a feasibility study, identify your best prospects, find the best leadership for your campaign, and train you for engaging development calls.  (Recommendation: 3 to 8 days per month.)

Energize Employees

Interview staff using a plan that will improve time management and productivity while addressing concerns.  We will identify an overlap of tasks, tasks not being done, under-utilized or over-utilized individuals, ways to consolidate, methods and ideas for improvement, disgruntled employees and your best assets.  (Recommendation:  One and one half days - the full day to conduct staff interviews, the half day to discuss recommendations.)

Manage Essential Ingredients

Address needs of volunteers and musicians.  Volunteers:  we can indentify areas to improve relations with your corps of volunteers to empower them to attain greater results.  Musicians:  we can identify ways to improve musician morale to stimulate greater cooperation with management.  (Recommenation:  one day of interviews per group.)

Searches

Organize successful Music Director or Executive Director searches.  Your headhunter can be finding the individual while we determine the type of person your organization needs and the best way to interview/audition each prospect.  (Recommendation:  a half day session.)  We can also provide interim Executive Director services (using a unique  system) to keep your orchestra running at top effeciency during your search process.  This will save you $$$.

Negotiations

Experience successful labor negotiations.  We are truly experts at bridging the gap between the musicians' needs and management's needs, using time-tested, positive negotiating tactics.  Avoid a strike or a shut-out, as it is a lose-lose situation for the whole organization and takes vital time to recover.  (Recommendation:  the duration of the negotiating session.  Intially:  a one day session with the management negotiating committee.)

Savings

Consultants can save you time, money and misspent effort.  How?  By getting to the heart of the problems quickly, interviewing and bringing to the surface un-addressed, lingering issues that are inhibiting your progress, recommending excellent, able-to-accomplish advice on all areas of need,  and by streamlining your orchestra operations.

Sound Advice

The most valuable consultants come from their depth of experience.  We know, through time-tested experience, what works and what is counter-productive and how to implement changes in a kind, but efficient way.  (Recommendation:  one day of interviews.)

Focused Direction

A consultant can ask the sensitive question that the insider may not.  As an outsider to your organization, we have found that people more readily confide in us their concerns.  This gives us a more complete picture of the problems and identifies the individuals who can make a positive impact.  (Recommendation:  one day of interviews.)

Plan realistically for the future

Ultimately, the decisions for the organization are yours, but the consultant plays a vital role in helping you to see and correct flaws before you implement a plan.
